Women’s March 2019 | Washington, DC
I attended the 2019 DC Women’s March for the first time this past Saturday. Many of you have asked me about my experience while at the march. I’m excited to share with you my account of the event and some of my favorite pictures.
Prior to Saturday, the only ideas I had of large marches came from what I’ve seen on television. I don’t see or consider myself as the “activist” type or one who would attend large gatherings of public expression. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect and I was slightly nervous, but excited, to attend the women’s march. One thing I told myself on the days leading up to the event is that the movement is bigger than myself. Even though I didn’t visualize myself as one who would attend a march of any kind, there are women all over our country that face issues that I will never experience or can even image. And for that – I marched in solidarity with and for them.
Thousands were gathered downtown DC, bundled up for the cold. Women, men and children from all over the United States joined together with such positive energy and vibes. We were all on the same page with the same intentions and wants there to be change. I couldn’t help but feel and an overwhelming sense of strength, unity, action and drive for change. I’m so honored and proud that I had the opportunity to go to the 2019 Women’s March in DC for the first time now that I live in the city.
