All About… Jade & Clover

From Succulents, Gifts, Home Decor and More, Jade & Clover Has it All

Jade & Clover is a boutique that never fails to have me praying for strength to keep me from buying everything in the store. I first found out about the shop while on a Deep Ellum Wine Walk over a year ago. You can usually find their doors open and beautiful succulents out on display when you walk in.

Located in Deep Ellum, Jade & Clover is a mini paradise of everything you didn’t know you needed. The shop provides unique jewelry, select clothing pieces, as well as items for men and kids.

Some of my favorite items they sell are their party/gifts, stationery items and home decor. Jade & Clover’s merch is always quirky and makes you laugh a little. Such as “A Candle for Haters” that smells like seething jealousy,  “This Senorita Needs a Margarita” party drink napkins, a book (that is now on my reading list) titled “Get Your Sh*t Together: How to Stop Worrying About What You Should Do So You Can Finish What You Need To Do And Start Doing What You Want To Do,” and many more amazing items. I added 12 of my current wishlist items at the end of the blog.

Jade & Clover also hosts events and workshops ranging from painting, printmaking and building your own terrarium. Luckily, you can go in anytime during business hours and build your own succulent display. Where you can choose from a rainbow selection of sand, fresh plants and gorgeous glass and gold displays. All of the items I mentioned can be purchased online at and even more is available in-store.

Here are some of my favorite pictures from when I last visited Jade & Clover:

About Last Night… at Sundown at Granada

Spring Menu Preview Media Dinner

Front of Sundown at Granada

Last night I was hosted the Sundown at Granada media dinner to sample some of the seasonal items on their spring menu. I hate to admit that last night was my first time eating at Sundown at Granada! Especially since I lived seven minutes away off Mockingbird Lane for a year. Let’s just say that it won’t be my last time dining there.

The media dinner consisted of delicious entrees, cocktails and a beautiful sunset! Fitting, since the restaurant is called Sundown at Granada. I must say, every single item I tried was equally fresh and delicious. All of the items on the spring menu at Sundown at Granada are light, locally sourced and inspired by summer. I left feeling full without feeling stuffed, which is the most satisfying feeling after eating a meal. Many of the items on the spring/summer menu are gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan-friendly!

The cocktails were absolutely delicious and beautiful!! The one I tried was the Seasonal Rita. I’m not a huge tequila girl but I could hardly taste it, which had me sold. With hints of watermelon, the Seasonal Rita makes for the perfect summer cocktail.

Sundown at Granada did not disappoint and I couldn’t wait to share with you pictures from my experience at the Sundown at Granada spring menu preview media dinner. If you haven’t made it down to Lower Greenville to eat at Sundown, you absolutely should this summer! If you have already dined at Sundown at Granada, you should visit again and try some of their items off of their Spring menu.

Here’s a look inside last night’s media dinner:

All About… My SMU Graduation Photos

Cheers to Southern Methodist University!

Finally, the craziness of graduation finally dying down and transition to the next phase of life is slowly starting to begin.

My time at SMU was full of moments, friendships and accomplishments that I will carry with me for the rest of my lift. The relationships I have fostered with faculty and staff have allowed me to gain mentors and view my career from a macro point-of-view and stay positive for what lies ahead. The friendships I have created with peers from all areas of SMU have allowed me to create memories that will last a lifetime and moments that shaped my college career. The ability to attend an institution like SMU has prepared me more than I could imagine to start and foster a successful career in public relations and communications.

Forever thankful for my amazing family, SMU, the Corporate Communications and Public Affairs Department and Meadows School of the Arts.

In order to capture my final week at SMU, I took senior pictures with Mollie Mayfield of MollieRue Productions. When it comes to photos, I am very particular about what I like and how I want my pictures to look like (Type A problems). Working with Mollie was an overall enjoyable, professional and fun experience. It was easy for me to let go and let her take creative direction and thank God I did because I am in love with my all of photos!

I look forward to working with Mollie in the future for blog shoots and other photography needs. When it comes to referrals, I strive to be honest and only endorse brands, companies and services that I believe in and support. If you are looking for a photographer for personal photos, headshots, family shoots, maternity, wedding, engagement, etc., Mollie is your girl!

Here are some of my top favorite SMU senior pics from my shoot last week:

All About… Davis Street Espresso

A Look Inside

Davis Street Espresso is located in the Oak Cliff neighborhood, right near Bishop Arts, and it’s eclectic and beautiful inside. They are a plastic and paper-free company and a majority of their products are locally sourced. If you are looking to get a drink or take your beverage to go, all you have to do is pay $2 for a small mason jar. The best part is that when you return and use your glass jar, you get $2 off your order! They also grow coffee beans in the front window.

If you’re always on the lookout for coffee shops in Dallas, looking for new places to knock out work, add Davis Street Espresso to your list!

All About… the 3 Reasons Why I Love Esther Penn

I was invited to the Esther Penn x Fortress Festival shopping event this past Thursday evening by Marissa Row, friend and blogger. It was a great event overall and a great time to catch up with friends in the blogging community. This was my first time visiting an Esther Penn store and hearing about the Fortress Festival.

Esther Penn x Fortress Festival

This year’s Fortress Festival will be hosted April 28th-29th in Fort Worth Cultural District at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. 2018 is the festival’s second year and there are over 20 bands lined up to perform on Fortress Festival’s two stages. Fortress Festival is partnering with the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth to make this year even better than the last. You can learn more about the Fortress Festival and how to get your tickets, here.

I love a good boutique. Founded in 2014, Esther Penn’s Dallas location is located off Henderson Avenue, right next door to Bar Stellar. The space is absolutely beautiful! It’s aesthetically clean and organized to perfection. The assessability of the shop and my ability to find exactly what I’m looking for is one thing that I am very picky about when I shop. Esther Penn delivers on that.

Madisen Reid Inside Esther Penn-2.JPG

Because there are so many, I decided to list my top 3 reasons why I love Esther Penn!

1. The pieces they offer are in-style, unique and equally as gorgeous

Though the prices are slightly high, you truly get what you pay for. Which are high-quality pieces for all occasions at a boutique where you can find everything you want, and more! That is one thing about boutiques in Dallas… when you can find one you love that offers items that none of the competitors provide, keep them close!

Esther Penn Neon SIgn.JPG

2. Founders, Kacy and Alyson personally handpick every item in Esther Penn

All of the pieces in the boutique is from Los Angeles to guarantee a great selection to shop from everytime you visit. They even have a “we’ve got to have this test.” The time, care and love that is put into Esther Penn by every member of the staff is evident. It only encourages me to support the local business even more than I already do.

3. Even better, the merchandise is strategically organized

I love when things are coordinated and organized by a theme! It gives me peace of minds and puts me at ease, because when I shop, I go in knowing exactly what I am looking for. Even the clothes in my closet are organized by color. However, everything is so cute at Esther Penn, even though I would go in knowing what I want, I would most likely leave with more than what I planned on purchasing.

Make sure to check out Esther Penn and see all of the beautiful hand-picked pieces in their Dallas store. Esther Penn tops, dresses, bottoms, sweaters, outerwear and shoes can all be purchased on their website as well.

Here are my top 3 favorite pieces from their online shop:

About Last Night… at Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar, Round 2

I had the wonderful opportunity of being invited back to Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar to try selections from their Spring menu. I was last invited to the Addison location in late February to try some items and get a taste of the Lazy Dog experience. I had the best time at the restaurant and couldn’t wait to return! Luckily, the chance came when I was invited to the Spring menu release media dinner.

I have to admit… I’ve been a bad blogger these past few weeks. It feels like school has occupied all of my time leading up to graduation, I promised myself when I started About Last Night, Dallas is that I would make the times to dedicate to my blog. I am a strong believer in that it is possible to make time for what you want to make time for. I promise to more diligent in producing content!

I say all that because there are times when things get extremely busy, like this week, and my schedule can get mixed up slightly. That exact thing happened yesterday! I showed up at Lazy Dog with my friend Kerri, a fellow blogger, at 6 p.m. for the media dinner… it turned out, the media dinner was the following Wednesday, April 4th!!!

My mixup ended up being an amazing thing! We were able to have a pre-media dinner sneak peek and the Assistant General Manager, Dustin, selected appetizers, entrees, dessert and cocktail items of the Spring and standard menu.

Lemon Cake - Lazy Dog.JPG

Lemon Cake – Gluten Sensitive • Spring Menu: Lemon Buttercream, Almond Flour Vanilla Cake, Huckleberry, Lemon Curd, Whipped Cream

Overall, I had another amazing time hosted again at Lazy Dog Restaurant! Though the location I visited is in Addison, it’s not a bad drive at all and 10/10 worth it. The cherry-on-top of the experience is the A-class, top-notch, customer service you receive from the moment you walk into the front door, all the way until you pay your bill. Everyone is knowledgeable about the menu, dedicated to assisting in making your time there exceptional and it’s noticeable that they all love where they work.

If Lazy Dog isn’t on your list of restaurants and bars to try, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and at them to the top of your list! You won’t be disappointed.
