About Last Night… at Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar

Lazy Dog - Addison-2

Last night I was hosted by Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar, located in the Village on the Parkway in Addison. This was my first experience at any of the restaurant’s chains and I was far from disappointed.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by excellent customer service, beautiful decor and a warm, inviting environment. The bar and patio were the areas where the majority of the guests were gathered and that wasn’t a surprise. The bar is without a doubt a head turner. TVs surround all angles of the bar and their bottles are beautifully color coordinated leading up to the ceiling. The patio is spacious and has a large fire pit for customers to sit around. It’s the perfect place to dine when the weather is warm.

Implied in the name, Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar is a dog-friendly establishment. Last night, there were adorable pups enjoying the beautiful patio with their owners. If dogs are allowed, you know where I’ll be. It’s definitely not helping with my puppy-fever.

The server was extremely knowledgeable of Lazy Dog’s slightly overwhelming, however mouthwatering menu. I kid you not, there is something for everyone from pizza, pasta, bowls, salads, sandwiches, burgers, to name a few. I will include pictures of the menu below.

The food and drink items I tried were:

• Cocktails •

White Peach Homemade Sangria ($5 – Happy Hour)

Seasonal Tangerine Thyme Margarita ($6)

• Starters •

Grilled Garlic Flatbread ($5.75)

• Small Plates •

Togarashi Edamame Beans ($6.25)

Buffalo Chicken Lollipops ($5.75)

• Noodles •

Sundried Tomato Pesto ($14.85)

• Dessert •

Butter Cake ($7.50)

Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar needs to be added to your list of places to try! There are locations in Addison, Plano and Euless (many more DFW locations to come in 2018).

Below are some of my favorite pics from my experience hosted at Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar:

About Last Night… at Checkered Past Winery

Last night I attended the Wine and Magic Blogger Dinner, hosted at Checkered Past Winery. To be honest, the event was hands down one of my top favorite media events I’ve attended. Everything was amazing from the wine selections, cheese boards, small plates, flatbread pizzas, desserts, magic, as well as the amazing guest in attendance.

The magic was performed by Trigg Watson and his magic left everyone in the room shook to the core! The delicious food items were all carefully prepared and paired with the perfect wine selections. The environment and ambiance made for a relaxing and rich experience.

I am a huge fan of wine. I cannot believe I have never visited Checkered Past Winery before! I couldn’t say no when Checkered Past reached out to me and offered that we parter for a giveaway.

This is definitely one worth entering!

We will be giving away a complimentary wine tasting for you and three friends!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I feel like I blinked and it went from New Years to Valentine’s Day! All I can think is time waits for no one AND this holiday means delicious and sweet treats.

One of my favorite aspects of Valentine’s Day is that businesses are getting more and more creative with the limited time food and drinks!

I have collected my favorite Dallas business that will be providing Valentine’s themed treats. Make sure you go out and get them before they’re gone for another 365 days!

All About… Uchiba Dallas

February Dallas Blogger Brunch

This past Sunday, I had the opportunity to officially visit the new Uptown restaurant, Uchiba! Opening their doors on January 31st, the modern Japanese restaurant is located directly above Uchi (right next to the Stoneleigh). Uchiba occupies the space that was once Top Knot. Uchi and Uchiba are one in the same, however, they will both offer unique experiences.

Fun Fact: In Japanese, ‘Uchi’ means house and ’Ba’ means bar.

When my friend Rhonda, founder of Dallas Blogger Brunch, announced that the February event would be hosted at Uchiba I couldn’t wait to try it out. I had such an amazing experience at the new restaurant and the food and atmosphere on the patio were amazing (so were the mimosas). Japanese food is my favorite, so my expectations were high.

On the brunch menu, I was able to try the:

Sticky Toffee Monkey Bread

Yokai Berry Salad

Miso Salmon Rice Bowl

I didn’t try the avocado toast, but I included a picture of it below anyway.

Every. Single. Thing I tried on the menu was SO fresh and delicious. The Miso Salmon Rice Bowl is an item that you probably wouldn’t expect on a traditional brunch menu, however, it was the perfect portion size and the salmon was impeccable.

Uchiba reserves the place on my list and favorite Japanese restaurant in the Uptown District!

Below you will see more of my amazing time at the new Japanese concept, Uchiba.

All About… Magnolias Sous Le Pont

Another Favorite Coffee Shop to Add to Your List

Magnolias Sous Le Pont is located in Harwood District. Known for their teal blue, Instagram worthy exterior, this coffee shop has grown to be one of my personal favorites over the years. Magnolias is constantly releasing new and seasonal coffee and tea beverages that can’t be found anywhere else. The patio is perfect for warm weather months.

During my countless visits to Magnolias Sous Le Pont, I have tried:

Chai Tea Latte

Matcha Latte

Autumn Spice Latte (seasonal)

Turmeric Matcha Latte (“secret” menu / hopefully soon-to-be on the regular menu)

Every single drink I get from Magnolias never disappoints! The baristas truly know what they’re doing and make every drink better than the one before.

The one downside is that the coffee shop closes at 6pm. However, if you stay until closing, the staff give the remaining pastries to the remaining guests. If you like live music, keep a lookout on Magnolias Sous Le Pont’s Facebook and Instagram pages to know when they host local musical guests.

Here are some of my favorite pics from my many trips to Magnolias in the Harwood District!

All About… Jalisco Norte Mex Kitchen + Bar

Jalisco Mex Kitchen + Bar

I visited Jalisco Norte for the first time at the start of the new year with my friend, Rachel Urquhart. The upscale restaurant is located in Oak Lawn and is the perfect place for any occasion. Jalisco’s Central American inspired decor and menu create an experience that is truly unique. One of my favorite editions is the window where you can watch an employee make fresh tortillas right in front of you.

The restaurant was crowded on a Wednesday evening, however, I didn’t have to wait for a table. The bar was packed with people leftover from happy hour, which gave Jalisco’s an energetic vibe. There were also many groups with large parties.

While at Jalisco Norte, I had the opportunity to try the Craft Paloma cocktail (one of 18 specialty crafted cocktails), queso, chips and salsa, as well as the chicken quesadilla. All three were extremely delicious. The quesadilla was hands down one of the BEST I’ve ever had. Jalisco’s cocktail menu is dominated by an array of tequilas from around the world. I am not a tequila girl, but hey! When in Rome, right?!

Here are the descriptions of the items I tried:

Craft Paloma cocktail • $13

Partida Blanco

Combier Pamplemousse

Fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

Fresh squeezed lime juice

Topo Chico

Aperol and Mezcal Mist

Black Salt Rim

Queso • $9

Classic Texas Queso

House Made Tortilla Chips

Quesadilla • $8 + Chicken • $5

Choice of handmade corn or flour tortilla with cheese

Here are some of my favorite pictures from my experience at Jalisco Norte Mex Kitchen + Bar! The menu from the website is also included below.

All About… Veronica Beard in Highland Park

Two Women, Same Name, One Brand

A Photo Blog

This is my first fashion related post on About Last Night, Dallas. I am so excited to start incorporating and featuring businesses in the fashion industry.

This past fall, I came across an event for the official grand opening for a new shop in Highland Park Village, Veronica Beard. Not only did I fall in love with everything about the store, but the story behind the brand as well.

The brand, Veronica Beard, was created by two sisters-in-law, Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard. One having experience in finance and the other in fashion, the two girl bosses went down the path of entrepreneurship. Veronica and Veronica say that they relate to their customers because “[they] are [their] customer.”

Following their launch in 2010, Veronica Beard now has many independent shops, are offered in stores around the United States, internationally, as well as online. After learning about the history of the Dallas location from the Highland Park store manager, she also let me in on another fact about the company. Every Veronica Beard store’s decor is inspired by the state/region it’s located. You’ll notice many Southern touches and luxurious accents that tap into the Texas and Highland Park demographic. While staying true to the Veronica Beard aesthetic.

In order to keep the store fresh and pieces up-to-date, the team strives to keep a constant rotation of collections every season. Veronica Beard is currently having a 70% off final sale AND free shipping in the USA on their website. The prices range more on $$-$$$ side, however, the store is a beautiful place to stop by and window shop.

Check out my experience below and the beautiful Veronica Beard shop in the Highland Park Village.

• What is featured in my photos are from the fall and many are listed as 70% off in the link above! Visit the shop to discover their winter collection. •
